    I think I am fat or maybe just skinny fat and I don't know where to turn to!

    First post here, long time lurker. Anyway, I am an 18 year old male. Up until about a month ago I would drink about 3-4 sodas a week. It has been a month or so and I have dropped soda fully from my diet (i'm assuming that helps with getting trid of stomach fat) yet I still drink lemonade every once in a while. Like i said earlier I am 18 years old and my BMI is dead center where it is supposed to be. I weigh 137 pounds and my height is 5'7". I am not sure if I am skinny fat, I have been told multiple different things. I feel as if I have a lot of upper abdomen fat but i need some other opinions. I feel like I am fat and that my stomach pops out to much, it makes me feel self conscious. I would like to slim my stomach down so i'm skinny. Should I just do compound lifts which I have heard burn fat and build muscle. I am a beginner lifter. I have added some pics for reference, thank you in advance!

    Why do you want to be skinny though?

    I'm 5'7 you have same body type as I used to and I have been focusing on putting on lean muscle mass for past 4 months and I feel so much more confident in my body even though I have some body fat still

    I feel like if you want to look skinny just eat at a deficit

    But in my view if your body does gain size like mine if you invest afew months Into bulking when you do cut you will look 100x better than being skinny

    You are not fat. Don't worry about "cutting" right now - 100% start lifting with a good routine focusing on progressive overload on compound movements (Fierce 5 is popular). Eat a balanced diet at a surplus with plenty of protein.

    You are 18 and will benefit SO much by spending the next few years lifting and growing as much as possible. You can cut later to show off what you've built.

    Yes, "bulk" in that your focus should be getting stronger and eating enough to grow. But don't get caught up in "bulk/cut" right now. You're 18 and primed for growth. Follow a program, lift hard, eat heartily, and grow.
