Smile Ameribrahs get in here (legal question) Will rep

What would one need to do in order to work in the States? More particularly live in Vermont and work as a LEO over there. Obviously im not a refugee nor someone at risk so I can’t use that route.

Info about me: Canadian citizen, College Degree, got about 12k saved up so I won’t depend on welfare programs, not disabled, 20 years old, I can speak and write english fluently and also speak french. Are my chances pretty much non existant?

For regular work, all you would need is some kind of visa and passport so you could cross the border daily. People legally work in the USA and live in Canada or Mexico with little to no problem; I'm not sure if that's changed recently.

For law enforcement, you typically have to be a permanent resident of the county, city, and state you want to work in as well as be a permanent resident of the USA. Some agencies allow you to live in a surrounding county (NYPD), some agencies restrict you to only live in the city of that agency (Boston PD).

Thanks, I just realized I posted this in the wrong section, it was for the misc but still thank you for the answer. I'm guessing I would need a sponsor in order to become a permanent resident of the USA.

No clue on how to apply for a visa but there's more than one. Why not apply to a police agency in Canada?
