    Good deadlift progression?

Let me start off by saying this. I am very loose when it comes to leg day. I often forget or dont do it. Whenever I do it, I either squat or deadlift, nothing else. So I've started working out consistently about 2 months ago. I tried to max out on everything before I started to see what kind of strength gains I get (running a 5x5 when I do squat or deadlift).

I never actually found my deadlift max at the start, but I'm assuming it was between 180-190, bc that was about how much I weigh. Anyway. within two months I am now able to pick up 275. Is 70+ pounds within 2 months reasonable? Especially when I am not hitting legs every designated leg day?

I'm not saying the 275 deadlift is special. I know it isn't. I'm asking if its out of the ordinary to gain 70+ pounds on a deadlift max within 2 months when you're not training your legs very consistently.

You didn't check what you could lift when you started - you just made it up after the fact. For all you know, your max when you started was 260.

In general, if you're able to make a certain amount of gains in a certain period of time, chances are it's reasonable and you're not some extraordinary freak of human strength.

I forgot to include this in the original post but I did try a 205 deadlift and failed at the start

Most beginner linear progression programs add ten lbs a week to exercises. In two months, that's 80 lbs. 70 is fine considering you are not that consistent.

Deadlift is the easiest lift to make big progress on quickly. Doesn't surprise me at all you progressed that quickly. When I was 16 and deadlifted for the first time weighing <150 pounds I could deadlift 300, and I don't have good genetics. A 275 pound deadlift is meaningless for an average male.

Edit: sorry, what I said is not true. First time I worked up to a heavy single I got over 300 but I did do several workouts with some deadlifts prior to this, just not heavy.

A lot people with ZERO training can DL 275 their first day at the gym. If you want some sort of ackowledgment for your progress come back in 6 months and you'll realize what I am saying as well.
