    Calves

So I’ve always had difficulty building my calves but I’ve been dealing with cramps every time I try to work them out. I don’t have cramping issues any other time I workout. It only happens in my calves and when I work them out specifically. Does anybody have any tips? Do I need to lighten weight and increase reps to build them up? I can do 190lbs for 25 reps in good form but it’s fighting the muscle cramping. I’d like to be able to squeeze the muscle without worrying about getting a cramp. Thanks for the help!

Try doing some dynamic stretching for your calves / back of legs before you do your sets, and make sure you're well hydrated. Then static stretching after.

I also recommend hydration. Also take a multivitamin, sometime a minor mineral deficiency can cause cramping

Eat a banana before working out. Potassium is supposed to be good for cramping. I've also heard that glucosamine is good for that.

    Jump Rope

Jumping rope will strengthen and build up your calves, and give you a great, cardio workout too.
