Can you tell me about about fat burning sups - what do they do, how do they act, etc?

I am unlikely to want to take any, however I saw a lot of fat burner supplements from a trusted supplement brand. There are several mechanisms I can think of (maybe they're like stimulants, so raise your basal metabolism; maybe they help break down fat ahead of workouts, so if you're already working out you use fat preferentially; maybe they're simply appetite suppressants and that's it; something else?)

How do they work exactly? Do they work? (Maybe you can talk about both the case of someone who is doing exercise while taking them, and someone who takes fat burners but does no additional exercise.)

I've used several fat burners and here is my opinion....
Do fat burners alone help you lose weight? Maybe indirectly, but taking them alone without putting any extra work in... no.
The reason I use them is strictly for the appetite suppressant aspect. This alone makes it worth it for me as I have terrible appetite control.
As far as thermogenic effects, yes I get that as well as a slightly increased heart rate.
The effects from that may be negligible, however.

I have noticed more trips to the restroom while taking fat burners but I attribute that more to some of the ingredients upsetting my stomach as opposed to an increased metabolism.

Overall, I'd reccomend most to atleast try one. If it isnt for you then so be it. But if you are having a hard time putting down snacks throughout the day then the appetite suppression qspect alone may make it worth it for you.

They're stimulant based and intended to decrease your appetite. Working on the assumption that you eat less with a smaller appetite, therefore lose weight. There are additional ingredients that can have a very marginal impact to fat loss paired with a good diet and exercise, but largely what you're getting is the two main things I mentioned.
