    Question Whey Protein in Football

Hi guys, I’m new here !
So i have been training for about an year in the gym (for strength not for mass necessarily) as i want to improve my performance in football.

I have never taken any supplements and recently i started reading about protein. I eat fairly healthy but i dont think i have as much protein as i should in order to build some lean muscle.

The question is should I start having a protein shake after gym sessions? If yes when should i have it considering that after gym i take about half hour to get home and most of the time dinner is ready 10-15 mins after i get home?

I should also mention that i am 17.

Have you worked out how much you need and how much you’re consuming?

Follow that link to calculators to find out how to calculate what you need.

50g is a very specific amount - are you logging your food intake or is it a ball park figure?

Yeah, 50 is just a rough estimate as I do check what i eat. So the calculator says I need 2500 to maintain my weight. I also calculated that i need a minimum of 100g of protein a day. I also want to mention that i go gym 4 times a week and i train all my major muscle groups (biceps, back, quads, hamstrings, chest and triceps). I also have 1 training session of football a week and a match on Sundays. So we essentially my only proper rest day is on Saturdays.

I asked this question as i wasnt sure if i should meet my protein intake by adding a protein shake to my diet or by adding more protein packed food in my diet.
