    Alcohol and fitness

    Hey all.
Ironic my first post in this section is re. Alcohol.
I'm Irish and my friends aren't into fitness. As a result, despite my efforts and suggestions our weekly meetups revolve around alcohol.
So, my question is, are the carbs in cider i.e. sugar worse for body comp than the carbs in beer i.e from yeast in strict terms where hypothetically they are matched for carb content ?
Also opening the floor to general discussion re. Alcohol and bodybuilding.
    Cheers ! (Pun intended)

A calorie is a calorie in terms of body comp. With regards to alcohol everything in moderation. I drink more than I should myself and while it's hindering me it's not making all of my efforts worthless.

I think it was because he said he was Irish. And the big stereotype that comes with that lol.
I have a good joke about water retention. But I'm going to hold onto it for now.

I'm not an elevator, but I certainly do lift.

Going to the gym? Ha, it's just a weights of time.

Steroids and ass. They certainly go well together.

I'm the BB king..of puns. I train my back using only fish. I love my macker-rows.

But that's not really ironic.. it would make sense him asking about alcohol if he's Irish given the stereotype...

Kills gains in my opinion, opens the gates for binge eating, i'd avoid drinking or minimize it as much as possible if you're serious about your training.

If you're cutting you have to basically stop drinking. There is no way around it.

If you are not cutting then it's possible t fit it in, but the days of going nuts with 6, 7, 10 beers in a night have got to end. A few beers at the end of the day, once or twice a week? Sure. Jason Momoa famously drinks Guinness after a day at the gym, he said something like "eat lots of lean meat and save your calories for Guinness."

BUT, as the poster above noted, alcohol does hurt your recovery and limit gains therefore. Also phucks up your sleep. The less the better, is the painful truth.
