Has anyone else never had anxiety attack before?

    Not saying they aren’t real.

But damn, seems like everyone and even their pets have them these days.

Can you have one and not know you are having it. Cause maybe I have had them before and I just didn’t notice or found a way to cope?

It's certainly something that's being talked about much more frequently, which I think adds to people acknowledging that they have had them or still get them.

You could have had one and not really noticed, especially if it's a fairly mild attack. A more severe attack is something that you would most likely notice. You wouldn't be able to take deep breaths, your heart would be pounding, mind racing, dizzy, you'd feel like you needed to sit down or get on the floor, etc.

The good thing is that a true panic/anxiety attack physically can't last longer than about 20 minutes - your body physically can't produce enough adrenaline to last any longer than that.

Source: Me - I'm a therapist. Not trying to be all, "Hurr durr I know what I'm talking about 100% because I'm the expert." It's just my career so obviously I've got some familiarity with it.

i've had them so many times, i'm pretty sure u would be able to know if you had one before. like when it's almost your turn for a presentation, and you get up, and your mouth is suddenly all severely dry, you can barely think, you can't talk. i would say that's a moderate attack. a severe one would be like physical symptoms erupting, like chest pains, and sweating, shallow breathing

    i've heard it's a first world thing

only had one once. I was at Pluckers with some friends and for some reason, at one point, I couldn't talk. Not only that, but I could feel my heart beating like I was having a heart attack and everyone was moving so fast. That scariest part was no one seem to notice me struggling with reality and kept talking like everything was so fine and dandy.

this lasted like 1-2 minutes before I had the strength to get up to the restroom and wash my face. Till this day, I don't know why that happened.

LMAO, I'm still embarrassed about this today.

Remember when the swine flu went through N.A.? Probably 9 or 10 years ago now.

Anyways my wife went to get the vaccine and the clinic was like something out of a movie. Security guards letting people in, everyone wearing masks including little babies, it was kind of surreal. She got the vaccine and I didn't test positive. There was a shortage of it at the time.

When we got home my mind started playing games on me, I thought I caught the flu. We called my mother in law who is a nurse and she says you better go get the vaccine, that flu turns your lungs into cement.

So in my head I started getting short of breath and basically hyperventilating. We called the paramedics and as soon as they showed up I stopped hyperventilating and was fine, LMAO. Felt like such a phaggot.

    So ya, happened once

Last time I had an anxiety attack was during my DMV drive test. Ran over a curve LMAO. Just totally lost my focus 5 s in and had to cancel test. I've had a few anxiety attacks more recently. Once before I was supposed to take a flight, and another time just recently when I was outside just walking around. Heartrate got really high and just felt a sudden urge to go home. IDK. Started sweating and just generally feeling extremely uneasy. It is a real thing.

Anxiety attacks present as almost heart attack symptoms.

Sore chest, lack of breath, dizziness, feeling like you're about to die etc.

It's not simply a feeling of panic or doom.

I’ve had them off and on through life. Usually triggered when I’m under high stress. They seem to be worse in intensity the older I get. They’ve subsided a lot the last year because life has slowed down a bit, but prior to that I had some doozies. Brought on by life events such as losing my niece, my sister being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer three months later, having a new baby, buying a house, then being let go from work after returning from maternity leave...I thought I was going to die. It’s hard to explain but it felt like I had high blood pressure and low blood pressure happening at the same time. Focusing was hard, sometime cold sweats and feeling of being on fire on the inside, and feeling claustrophobic. I really wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I agree with the above mention that it’s being talked about more now so more people are aware they have it. But, at the same time, there are people out there who claim to have it for attention. It’s like the new version of being emo or some chit.

I’ve had one such attack. Up until then I used to think it’s for people who are weak and can’t cope (when I had the attack it was for something that was totally out of my own hands so I think it was justified)

Used to get them the day after binging on alcohol every single time. Chest/neck/ one side of face would go numb and struggling to breathe for 10 minutes. You feel like you are losing touch of reality too. Shiet sucks.

Not sure if anxiety or panic attack, but in 2014 I got real nervous out of nowhere, started getting tunnel vision and felt like I was falling backwards into myself. Felt shaky for a while after my senses came back too.

Yeah I did at work. Got dizzy as fuk, heart pounding, could not breath. To make it worse I had my guts liquified. Could not make it to the bathroom just had to sit there and hold my sh!t while coping on this phone call.

Finally got off the call had to sprint to the bathroom and proceeded to crap my brains out.

Went to a party where people brought food. One dude brought pot brownies for the people who smoked and it was to go on a separate table. However he handed it to one of those chicks who thinks she's helping the host and ended up putting it on the regular dessert table. I crushed 2 brownies because I was hammered drunk, and I have never smoked pot in my life because I could get drug tested. 45 minutes later I grab my ex and I'm like why does everything look like a kaleidoscope? and she's like what the fuk are you talking about? I sit down on the couch and I'm bugging dude, I have no idea what's going on. I can't breathe and my heart starts to pound. Next thing I know I'm laying on a bed unable to breathe and it feels like my heart is about to beat out of my chest. I think I'm having a panic attack which just makes it even worse. They didn't figure out what happened until someone else started bugging out and that the weed brownies were on the wrong table, and that I had taken the wrong one. Somehow my ex got me out of there and I refused to go to the hospital. The next day I couldn't even move because my chest cavity was swollen from my heart beating so hard.

My ex told me that its exactly how she feels when she gets anxiety attacks. Haven't had one since and thank the lord man, chit was kind of scary. I knew what was happening, but me knowing what was happening was making it worse because I knew that it was happening. Completely out of my own headspace.

Dont know what to think about any of this. My brother claims he gets “anxiety attacks”. He also claims he has every other ailment you can think of. Ex wife would legit freak the fuk out for absolutely no logical reason sayin it was “panic attacks” (this was pre marriage time). She was medicated for it. I told her its BS, which i believe it is (hers anyways) and threw her meds in the trash. She didnt have any more “attacks” after that. While we where together anyways.

My personal opinion is that a lot of people lose their chit over very minimally stressful situations and just cant handle it. And there are those that just freak the fuk out over nothing at all. I.E Fukkin ppl get into a fender bender and think they are legit going to die. Its nonsense and a refection of how pussified we have become.

But to answer the question no i haven't. Felt a lil weird after turbo heavy drinking for a few days in a row but nothing like “heart beating so fast it hollowed out my chest cavity” type nonsense.
