    Cowboy vs McGregor January 18

UFC president Dana White has now announced McGregor will face Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC 246 in a welterweight fight.
"Conor has signed and Cerrone is ready to go," White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Damn I hope the real Cowboy shows up and whoops Conors ass.

I think a lot of people would like to see Cerrone knock out McGregor with a head kick, but I think McGregor will knock out Cerrone in the first round.

I'll be surprised but happy to see Cerrone make it out of the first couple minutes, crappy undercard also.

Agreed. It is a bullsh!t fight Dana set up to give Connor a high chance of winning so that he can justify giving Connor a title shot over more deserving opponents. Dana knew if this fight was against Gaethje, Poirier, or Ferguson that Connor would get his ass kicked. Just shows how set up the UFC really is.

That said, I hope Cerrone somehow pulls it off. Losing to Cerrone would kill a lot of Connor's stock as a fighter.

Well 80 million in 40 seconds works out at a measly 7.2 billion an hour. Surprised he even showed up at that pay rate

Yup, as I said earlier, a complete bullsh!t fight set up by Dana to give an easy victory. Dana was hinting that a win would set up a title shot, so he puts McGregor up against a good (but not great) fighter on a two-fight skid in the twilight of his career. Ridiculous. I don't think it will matter much though...either Khabib or Usman would maul him.

Dana almost sounds in love talking about him. Can't see it working out for him against those guys either and he must realize that as well? Wonder what the actual plan is. Another Diaz fight? Masvidal seems almsot too dangerous as well.

For sure, Dana was actively discouraging a Masvidal fight because he thinks Connor will lose. He is doing everything he can to keep Connor's stock high so that he can rake it in. Even Dana has to know though that the odds aren't in favor of Connor winning a title at 155 or 170. Will be interesting to see what happens next.

LOL...ridiculous. Beating a fading fighter at 170 somehow warrants a title shot at 155? GTFO...

That's some number one bs. But would Khabib even take that fight? Remember him wanting Conor to earn the shot, and Khabib may not to put money ahead of his principles.

Assuming Khabib remains champ after 249, a big money fight could be Tony Ferguson? But damn, wondering if that isn't a very nasty option as well. There seems to be a much higher level everywhere today than when he last dominated and not really many safe options or midgets to fight.

I just still find it a bit disgusting that someone who punches old people at the pub gets this preferential treatment. I know it's showbusiness , but wish it was more like real sports and think they could build more hype around other great fighters based on something else than the loud clown types that have seemed to work for Conor and Colby etc. I mean, there have always been some honorable archetypes that has appealed to us in storytelling etc - maybe promote and market younger exciting fighters around that and try not be so dependant on one guy. Well, what do I know, lol.
