    i’m 6’ and weigh 150.5

i feel mentally exhausted almost everyday and today i felt physically okey, but mentally i felt exhausted (like almost everyday) any reason why? i had like a 7-8 hour sleep, but i do wake up to pee like 2-4 times.

i had a normal workout, but i could of have done better if i didn’t felt like this.

i weight train 3 days (greyskull lp) and 1 day of incline walking on the threadmill.

Mental exhaustion is caused by stress of some type. You have to figure out what that stressor is and work on it.

BTW, 6' and 150, just out of curiosity how is your nutrition? You're underweight.
All it takes is consistency, effort, proper nutrition, good programming, and TIME.

He's recovering from an eating disorder, which is likely a major factor in his mental fatigue.

    My thoughts:

You're still counting calories and seemingly restricting intake. Why?

Either way, there are too many possible causes to give you an answer. Stress, vitamin/mineral issues (ie vitamin D), anxiety, lack of DEEP sleep, work/family issues... everything could play a part...

exhaustion can be acute or cumulative... there's no way of knowing. You have to take an inventory of all the things coming into your life and figure out which is making you not feel well.

    hey adam!

i’m slowly stopping tracking tbh. today i didn’t even tracked a piece of food that went into my mouth and part of my dinner was made by someone else. restricting? yeah that one is tough, but i’m positive and i’ll stop restricting one day.

yeah a lot of things going on right now besides the diet that needs some fixing. thanks!

Start with a general health checkup (if not already done so). See a doctor. Get a chem/heme panel done.

8 glasses of water per day is a myth. Many foods contain a lot of water.

If you need to pee 2-4 times at night you're probably drinking too much.

so with the current amount you drink you wake up 2-4 times because you have to pee so much. I see an easy solution there.

    2 other questions:
    1. how much weight have you gained in the last 3 months?
    2. how much protein do you consume per day?

    1) around 6-7.5 i don’t weigh myself daily. i weigh myself when i feel like weighing myself. i have to admit that recently i sometimes weight a bit less, sometimes a bit more, sometimes the same, but the diference is not a lot

    2) don’t accurately track and sometimes don’t even track, but more than the .8 for sure.

    1. if you're not in surplus consistently you can become more tired.

    2. some people who consume a high protein diet have to urinate more often. you could try consuming a lower protein diet. 0.6 gram per lb is still enough to gain muscle.

today i woke up feeling mentally tired, but i feel physically okey.

could it also be the training in the gym? i weight train 3 days per week full body (greyskull lp) and if i want to and have the time too i would go another day, but only incline walking cardio. i wanted to go do cardio today, but decided not too. i’m thinking of dropping that extra cardio day that i usually do sometimes to see how i feel.

i’m losing motivation to go to the gym too.

    thanks for the advice.

i have two questions, i take my vitamin in the morning and i pee very yellowish all the time even at night even when i drink a lot of water. can vitamin make you pee yellow all day? i also take another medicine, but it’s not a vitamin or mineral. i ask because i heard and or read that taking supplements can make you pee yellowish.

i also go to the bathroom to pee a lot during the day.

labs shows glucose is fine (if i remember correctly) just in case someone wanted to ask

could it also be the training in the gym? i weight train 3 days per week full body (greyskull lp) and if i want to and have the time too i would go another day, but only incline walking cardio. i wanted to go do cardio today, but decided not too. i’m thinking of dropping that extra cardio day that i usually do sometimes to see how i feel.

i’m losing motivation to go to the gym too.

It’s most likely undereating. When I was undereating, I would have srs brain fog and fatigue on workout days. The only thing that fixed it was either skipping the gym for a couple days or eating a surplus. Not maintenence, but a surplus. I had a very srs eating disorder too, OP. For me, when I was a very lean 150 at 6 feet tall, lifting and eating maintenance made me feel like chit. Either scale back the cardio or increase cals.

You're most likely correct, and that is the most common cause of mental/physical fatigue in recovery.

Although I recommend zero exercise for people still in recovery almost 99% of the time, if someone can manage to commit to eating in a 100% unrestricted way and never using movement/training as a means to purge or compensate, it can actually be an amazing tool.

However, like you said, the potential pitfalls of over-training or over-reaching are only amplified in recovery subjects due to the underlying repairs (non-muscular) that have to happen all at the same time.

A 6 foot, 150lb person who might otherwise need 3000 calories to steadily gain weight, will need significantly more while recovering due to the other non-training related repairs that occur internally.

For me, it has absolutely taken force-feeding, eating until I literally did not want to look at food, and sleeping 8-10 hours every day before I realized what having energy and eating properly really feels like again. If you're bulking, or trying to, energy should NEVER be an issue unless you have an injury or some unique circumstance which compromises sleep or physical ability.

Lately i've been having eat a large amount of carbs before bed PLUS carbs during so I can have energy in the AM to train before work. We're talking 80-100g of carbs after already having had a 'dinner' meal 1 hour prior. It's the only way I can wake up feeling strong.

I completely agree. Take note of this, OP. If you want to be able to train, you will likely need to eat like this. You may also need quite a bit more than 3k to gain given your history.

can i ask, did you had to drop training to fully recover?

right now i’m even losing motivation to train, eat and in other things. i don’t think i’m overtrained. my appetite even went down recently.

i started thinking about “what if i get to a weight that i’m actually feeling healthy, but then i might feel fat and want to cut (bulk and then cut?) will i feel like this again?” is cutting worth it after having an ed?

the thing is, is 6’ 150 really considered underweight?

also, you say you recommend 0 training for people who are in recovery, but is it possible to actually train and get to feel better while in recovery? i think, like you mentioned, by not restricting?
