    L-Carnitine?

What do you guys think of L-Carnitine supplementation? One of my lifting buddies swears by this supplement. Granted, he’s also doing other “stuff” but believe the L-C helps yea sport energy from the fat cells better than if he wasn’t taking it.

I’ve just started taking 1gram in the morning and 1gram in the evening. So, we’ll see.

(P.S. I was going to post a link to an article on this supp. from a doc on THIS website, but because I haven’t posted 50 posts yet it wouldn’t let me - lame.)

L carnitine tartrate has data to show it positively impacts oxidative stress and ALCAR has cognitive benefits, probably won't help too much with fat loss though

Save your money or look to LCLT or ALCAR as suggested.

Don't let articles or "buddies" use studies on grossly obese individuals at higher dosages convince you of the value of 1g per day of L-car. There is none.

ALCAR is a pretty popular amino acid use for "improving physical and mental performance."

However, there is little research proving the benefits. Personally, I don't believe it's worth the price, at least based on my research.

I open to change my mind, though

Carnitin is an amino acid that moves fats into mitochondria.
Afterwards carnitin removes free radicals which otherwise could damage mitochondria.

The body can produce L-Carnitin from Lysin and Methionine using Vitamins B3, B6, C and Iron.
Carnitin can be found in lean meat, eggs, milk, avocados. Highest concentration in the heart.

Hunger and vegetarian diet can lead to a carnitin deficiency, resulting in lethargy, weakness, heart problems, edema.
