I doubt he was able to do anything he actually wanted to do. Everything is so freaking micro-managed over there now.

That being said....his return was longer than Jim Cornette's was with Impact a year or two ago.

not sure if bischoff ever really had too many of his own great ideas.

and if he has, the business passed him by a long time ago anyway.

hes like that old band who can still make some money because they had that one song that everyone knows.

this is how I felt upon his hiring. Ive been slowly watching the Monday Night Wars on wwe, and he really doesnt come off great in the interviews he did for it. If you take away the nWo, which was run into the ground, what else did WCW really create? Yes, he developed a crusierweight division (which was filled with talent from ecw and mexico) and WCW made Goldberg (and WCW had already established Sting/Flair). Everything else was WWE established guys that he brought in.

He was hired to take the fall when FOX inevitably showed the first signs of distress. Smackdown lost a million viewers in a week. FOX wanted Rousey on the show, she isn't even with the company at this point. They wanted Becky and Charlotte. They're on RAW.

I never had high hopes for big change, even with a massive deal on FOX. The WWE just does not produce compelling TV anymore. It is night and day from the 90's boom or even the Ruthless Aggression stuff. There is no believability in the performers. Work rate? Tons of guys and girls with great in ring stuff. But that isn't all pro wrestling is.

WWE used to be a thrill ride show from start to finish. You never really knew what to expect. The show has felt the same for the last 15 years now. It is soul draining to sit through nowadays. It just isn't going to get fixed, no matter who is hired or brought in, until true larger than life characters return or they completely change the way they present the product.

I dont think he was hired to take a fall. One of the earliest signs of trouble was Vince rewritting Smackdown because Bischoff and company had no idea where the Roman storyline was going, mid story. How can you start a storyline without a clear idea of the endgame?

Bischoff had filed for bankruptcy within the last couple years for what it's worth, so I assumed it was just a money-grab by him to come back in the first place......

He was mainly a business guy but had some knowledge of wrestling (unlike other business guys who stepped into WCW and had no clue). As an idea guy, he always played it safe and was way too eager to simply go with what worked in the past, the NWO likely was not his brain child. One thing he did do was revolutionize the business from a PPV stance. Prior to him, you did not have micro-monthly PPVs, it was 3 or 4 a year of big shows. He changed all that, to his credit.

He also had some vision, which I should credit him for, in making cruiserweights or more exciting matches more of a thing.

His problems were he was a pushover backstage, would not stand up to guys like Hogan or Nash and let those guys politic their way around the roster long past it time for them to start working with younger talent and making them more of stars. Nash in particular was troubling, because unlike Hogan he really was never a draw and got beyond lazy when he showed up at WCW (before, in WWF he would actually work hard and could put on great matches with the right guy like HBK or Hart). I suspect he was too afraid to ruffle these old lazy guy's feathers and make them work a competitive match with younger guys who should have been allowed to grow into stars.

EB was not good for WCW or TNA, he is ok as a face guy behind the guy who has the idea. However, he has a longevity of sorts. Vince is too much of a micro manager who should let HHH, Steph, and Shane take over. The game has passed him by. He is too afraid of keeping the minority of the fans and SJW fans happy. He is losing the one's of us who loved it in the 70's and 80's.
Then some ruin it by bashing someone like Becky who try something new and different. Wow. The street fight between Natty and Evans was the most "Hard core" match I have seen in a long time. Yet, some bash it. Why??????? It isn't cookie cutter 5 moves of doom men's matches. SMH
