Has anyone ever tried eating a lot of eggs?

Like not just 2 or 3 but a lot. Like 10 or more a day. If anyone did try that, what were the results?

There's a lot of controversy surrounding the cholesterol. Some say it is as bad as smoking cigarettes for your heart. Others say that it won't increase your risk of heart disease at all and there is even a man in his 80s who ate 25 eggs a day and was healthy.

As long as eating eggs won't give me a heart attack in the future, I see it as a good source of food and an alternative to eating steak, like people do on the carnivore diet.

Why would you eat that many eggs. Or a carnivore diet. Or any other extreme nonsense that's just not going to be as good as a sensible balanced approach

Some people will have no effect on their cholesterol, some people will have a sharp increase in their LDL cholesterol.

If you're going to eat a lot of eggs you need to get your lipids tested.

^^ It takes people time to work the crazy out of their systems and come around to this. Can't learn this from experienced people on a forum. That would be too sensible.

lol eat as many eggs as you want. within reason. i don’t know how anybody could eat 10 whole eggs in a day, but i’m sure the cholesterol would be less than 3 fast food cheeseburgers and as long as you’re working out you’ll burn that cholesterol off

Fyi: 10 eggs contain more cholesterol than 3 cheese burgers.

    You don't burn cholesterol.

I have indeed - when bulking 10 years ago I used to eat 10-12 a day.

I'd often mix 6 raw eggs in with my 1,000 calorie shake in the morning. I know there is the whole controvosy about egg protein not being well absorbed unless cooked but I did it anyway.

I also had my cholesterol level checked and it was normal.

there are far more significant concerns than protein absorption. E.g. salmonella

Hens in the UK are vacinated against salmonella. To quote the Food Standards Agency: "Lion Mark eggs, which include almost all of the eggs produced in the UK, are virtually free of salmonella."

My question isn't the salmonella as yes UK eggs are near enough vaccinated against it although......

    https://www.thebureauinvestigates.co...than-100-times

There still cases of it in our lovely country.

The problem I would have with raw eggs is that they have a similar consistency as a certain male byproduct and I can't bring myself to even think of eating anything similar in nature to that.

    Enjoy your eggs lads

Also it is World egg day so eat up.

That word "virtually" there would worry me. Not that I would consume raw eggs if they were 100% salmonella free.

Lol nobody needs to get their “lipids” tested if they want to eat eggs. You seem to be on some very old school nutritional science, my friend.

I'm not behind my computer now but if you're interested start by looking up the systematic reviews on how dietary cholesterol affects LDL cholesterol. Come back with any questions.

Why didn't you ask me in civilized way what research backs up by position?

In the other thread you're telling a scrawny kid that it's fine to keep cutting and here you're lol-ing at factual posts. That's why I negged your post.

Ok so then I’ll say it again here. So do you handle most of the people you disagree with with negative rep? is that how you roll? I was respectful to you and didn’t neg you and your 28,000 posts. Sorry OP, my advice still stands. Eat eggs, they are fine.

No. If people disagree with me in a civilized way I usually do not neg them.

I think you should read back your original reply and then consider if you addressed me in a civilized way.

FYI: Recent science is very clear on it, eating 10 eggs per day is likely to significantly increase LDL-C. A pretty good indicator for CVD risk.

Sorry but I do think it’s old science. and I’m not convinced that you are right. But you already negged me for saying that soo.. If you can PM me i’d love to continue this conversation. in the meantime eggs are fine. No lipid test needed.

I understand that's it not nice to be negged. It's not personal. Telling a 67 kg kid he will look ripped if he continues cutting is bad advice in my opinion. Maybe you haven't seen how many kids end up with EDs on this forum. Saying that's it's fine to eat 10 eggs per day without considering the effects on lipids is also bad advice in my opinion.

    Here's a 2018 review: https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/articl...dFrom=fulltext

Keep in mind I'm not saying eggs are necessarily bad, I'm saying if you're going to eat that many makes sure you know what you're doing.

PS. I'm always open to civilised discussion.

There still cases of it in our lovely country.

The problem I would have with raw eggs is that they have a similar consistency as a certain male byproduct and I can't bring myself to even think of eating anything similar in nature to that.
Interesting read. TBH once the eggs are whisked in with milk, yoghurt, fruit, oats, whey powder, etc the taste and consistency is completely disguised. However I'm not advocating eating them raw, just stating what I used to do every day for a couple of years or so (and it never did me any harm at the time). But yes, there are better ways to enjoy eggs!

Let me ask you this: if something has been proven dozens or hundreds of times over, why would the 'age' of the science matter? If it's correct, it's correct.

The causal link between tobacco smoke and cancer was established decades ago... should we claim that is just 'old science' and start smoking?
The power of carbs compels me!

I knew a dude who ate 20-30 eggs a day (yolks and all) and he was completely fine.

But take note, this dude worked out everyday, did cardio as well as lifting, also ate "healthily" and had a history of low cholesterol in the family. (He was very hairy though - not that that's a bad thing...)
