NWA IS BACK: Power episode 1 is up and is awesome.

fantastic showing and a great change of pace when it comes to pro wrestling. captured the look and feel. Also, the promo work is the best ive seen in professional wrestling in a long long time. these guys are damn good and definitely worth watching weekly.

Thanks, I'll check it out in a minute.

Honestly I was a little concerned about this show, I was listening to Jim Cornette reviewing AEW and he talked about this show (which he is part of) and it kind of sounded like he was only glowing and kind of making excuses for it in some ways, then he critiqued AEW and was very willing to point out the flaws (and even go overboard on some; he really needs to recuse himself from reviewing the Young Bucks or Kenny Omega, he just hates them too much to ever be fair).

So, without knowing chit, my worry was that it was a small-time indy mudshow in a tiny dark room that Jim was only making excuses for b/c he was a part of it.

Glad to hear my concern was likely unfounded... can't get enough good wrestling.

Pretty sure I'm on spread with the OP, but some green love is due for bringing this here. GJ OP bro, not a phaggot

Jim is a dinosaur full of hot air a lot of times and really has a hard time adjusting to the times. which is fine. he has that right to the opinion. however, nothing can take away the fact he knows pro wrestling better than anyone and whether it is on commentary, as a manager, or an agent, he is one of the best to do it. he and the other guy (whos name has slipped my mind) sounds fantastic together.i would take them over anyone in the WWE.

Yeah, certainly - although I tend to agree with him.

Meaning: I've tried to catch the Young Bucks out, saw some of their ROH matches and f'n hated them, just high spots, no rhyme or reason, no selling, no psychology, just spots and spots and more spots. Same with Omega, I'd watched some of his 7-star matches and just didn't get him. Goofy faces and just didn't see what was the big deal.

... so, I'm predisposed to not like these guys, but on the single episode of AEW, they did nothing wrong. Their entrance was catchy as chit, looked cool, they came off as main eventers and nobody did goofy stupid chit. The match wasn't some insta-classic but everything besides the ref not DQ'ing it made sense and nobody involved looked poorly, they all looked great. Watching Omega and those guys, they looked crisp as fuk and I started seeing what everyone else had seen in them... you just had to remove them from all the indy stupid chit and put them in with pros like Jericho and LAXv2.0.

With the Young Bucks, he ripped them on their look, too small, look like kids, blah blah blah... and I'm thinking? Okay? This is the same guy who made his fuking career wrestling the R&R Express and just put over how them winning the NWA titles at 70 was a good thing. Small pretty boys are part of wrestling, not the end of the world.

Just seems beyond criticism and into being personal with him on these guys.

Not a bad first episode. Hopefully Billy and Lagana don’t try to
Make it too retro. A couple of more known names would be good. Too bad Impact and AEW already have a lot of the Lucha Underground talent. I want this to succeed. I hated when Turner started to label his shows as WCW and dropped the NWA name

    Really good!!

Reminded me of the 80's again with Jim Crocket NWA. Definitely surprised and hope that it continues with even more success.

Episode 2 is up ! watched it last night and it was fantastic once again. Colt Cabana, Ken Anderson, Trevor Murdoch and the match between the wild card vs. eddie kingston and homicide was great !

No, TNA had a partnership with NWA to use their Heavyweight title on TV. NWA had partnerships with many small feds as well.
