Testosterone supplements, vitamin supplements or natural herb supplements?

I'm in my early 30's and I feel a regular loss of energy and a little bit weak to work out regularly and also a low sex drive, so I am looking to increase my testosterone level, I have been doing some reading online and its really giving me a head ache lol, there are lots of conflicting reports online on the pros and cons of testosterone pills (prime labs testo explode and the rest of them) so I am not sure if that's the way to go, on the other hand I have also read about vitamin supplements that help boost testosterone, vitamins such as Vitamin D, Vitamin B, Zinc and Magnesium, then there's the talk of natural herbs such as Korean Ginseng, Tongkat Ali to name a few. I am basically just looking for something that could help me with the following:

    1. Increase my performance during workout
    2. Boost my energy during the day
    3. Boost my sex drive

I wouldn't want anything with a strange side effect, I just want to know what has worked for you guys here on bodybuildingforum and what you would recommend for me. I would most certainly welcome all suggestions.

No trolling guys, just your honest opinion and advice.

I really like the GAT sports Multi + Test vitamins. I’ve been using it for almost a year and I have noticed a difference in overall well being and energy levels. Between that and getting my diet under control and exercise firmed up, it’s definitely affected all the areas yoU mentioned. I also started supplementing with Tongkat Ali but I can’t say whether it’s helped or not...I haven’t been on it long enough...

There's lot of decent natural test boosters out there. Everyone will ave a different opinion on what works best in this category though as its pretty controversial. Your research looks pretty good. I suggest a well rounded supplement that has multiple ingredients. We (RSP Nutrition) have a relatively new test booster out that we've had OUTSTANDING feed back on! Check it out, its currently buy one get one free and priced great!

These would be the few I would recommend. Most herbs need really high dosages to make a difference and that's not usually cost effective. There are a few supps that can have a good dosage of the ones here. Redcon1 has boom stick which has Ashwagandha Root Extract 2.5% withanolides (root) 1,000 mg as well as the addition of DHEA, DIM and Nettle.

Hey guys, thanks for your response, I really appreciate all the suggestions you have all provided. I have taken my time to read through most of the suggestions here and I noticed that the names certain vitamin supplements / herbs kept coming up, I am doing some reading / research on these vitamins and herbs and while I am not yet done reading about these supplements (Yes, I am the kind of guy to ask questions, read , ask questions again, read again and then make a conclusion on what supplements would be best for me, this is concerning my health so I need to do a thorough research ), I thought it would be best to make a post here, so I could learn a little bit more from those with more experience on testoserone matters.

Tribulus - I noticed GAT Mens Multi+Test and Redcon1 (this one I found rather pricey) has Tribulus in their supplements, however according to Wikipedia :
"Some body builders use T. terrestris extract as a dietary supplement with the belief that it increases testosterone levels. The belief was popularized by the American bodybuilder Jeffrey Petermann in the early 1970s. However, T. terrestris has failed to increase testosterone levels in controlled studies.[17][18][19] It has also failed to demonstrate strength-enhancing properties,[20] a finding indicating that the purported anabolic steroid effects of Tribulus "terrestris are untrue.

    Ashwaganda
According to wiki : "Although commonly used as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic medicine, there is no high-quality clinical evidence that it has any biological effect"

    Tongkat ali

I Couldn't find any medical research backing the effect of Tongkat ali on Testosterone

    grape seed extract

wiki: In alternative medicine, grape seed extract is sold in dietary supplement form and claimed to have numerous health benefits, most of which are not supported by sufficient medical evidence. Side effects may include itchy scalp; dizziness, headache, high blood pressure or nausea.[1]

The high blood pressure part got me worried!

    Mucuna_pruriens
Did a little research on this, so far I am yet to see any medical research linking this to an increase in testosterone level.

So regarding these herbal / natural supplements, I have to ask, do these really work or is it just another case of bro-science? I would appreciate if someone here can give their own personal experience on the effects of these natural supplements, it would also help if someone could put up some medical research links on the effects of these natural supplements/herbs on testosterone.

Now as for the supplements mentioned

    Prime T has

Fenugreek, Aspartic acid, Maca, Diindolylmethane, zinc citrate.

    GAT sports

    zinc oxide, Magnesium oxide

My question in this part is this, is there really any difference between Zinc Oxide and Zinc Citrate? Also, as Cheftepesh mentioned "Most herbs need really high dosages to make a difference" so, I would like to know if the amount of Ashwaganda extract, Fenugreek extract, Maca, Diindolylmethane in these supplements (GAT , Prime - T) are enough to make a difference based on the daily dosage?

Examine compiles studies and then links to them (or at least their abstracts, sometimes the full texts are behind a paywall, although sometimes if you look hard enough you can find the full text elsewhere). It's generally the best free online source for a basic, easy to understand breakdown of the literature. Once in a while, something in their article will be off versus what the studies they just linked to say, but it's pretty rare and for the most part, it's pretty reliable.

Remember that test boosters won't bring you to supraphysiological levels. And if your test is very low, you may want to see an endocrinologist for a stronger solution. But if you're on the low end of normal, they can help boost you within normal range. Look into ashwagandha (preferably KSM-66), tongkat ali (preferably LJ100 or Eurygold or similarly high quality extract), shilajit, anacyclus pyrethrum, mucuna pruriens, and icariin.

Don’t self diagnose or ask these guys to. Get a full blood panel including a nutritional panel. Early thirties is still young to be experiencing what you are unless it’s high stress/poor diet or something else. Either way, do it.

Wiki is a joke for information by the way.

Take guessing game out of it and get yourself to a doctor or self order your labs, and go get bloods.

    Personally would look into ordering:

    Testosterone free and total
    Ultra-sensitive estradiol
    Prolactin
    SHBG
    DHT

You can grab other labs as well if you'd like to know how your health internally is.

There are no OTC testosterone pills and "T boosters" are a waste of $. Making sure you're not deficient in essential nutrients such as mag, zinc, etc to optimize T production (not the same as boosting it...) is always a good idea, but don't over think it or expect amazing effects from them.

No trolling guys, just your honest opinion and advice.
I have been in the supplement industry more than 20 years and from my experience I realised sometimes easily available supplements work better. My findings are below:

    1) Vitamin C worked good for my energy level (helps to absorb iron, which is vital to create more haemoglobin in the body)
    2) Korean ginseng (for physical and mental energy)
    3) Vitamin E (great anti-oxidants) helps in sex (both erection and to last longer in bed); however, one has to be careful not taking more than 400iu on long term basis.

The above supplements are reasonably priced and easily available... moreover, they are backed by many clinical studies.
