Did I Re-Injure labrum tear in Shoulder? had Surgery 4 weeks ago

    Hello everyone,

I need help with my situation. I had surgery on July 23, almost 4 weeks ago. My dr. gave me arthroscopic labrum tear repair. He told me he put 3 anchors in my left shoulder. I have been wearing my sling everyday all day.

I was just in my bedroom, took off my sling, took off my shirt, and accidentally raised my arm when trying to get my shirt off forgetting to keep it down. There was a loud pop and i felt something drop in the back of my shoulder down towards my tricep area. M

I can now move my arm freely around and it isn't hurting as bad as it was, meaning i feel like it did before I had surgery.

Before surgery I had full range of motion just a popping noise in my shoulder and hard time lifting.

I just can't believe what I did…i am so mad at myself. When I look in the mirror it looks like my shoulder shifted back to how it was before surgery. I definitely feel like i undid everything the doctor did to my shoulder.

I could just be really paranoid after having done this but I don't know if I am being over paranoid right now, or if this is really bad. Can anyone help me? I'm going to call my dr monday but what options do I have?

Do i have to go get another MRI then wait another 3-4 weeks and have surgery again? Any help please and appreciated.

    Hi,

I'm not a doctor so please double check with someone qualified, however:

I fell on my shoulder 2 weeks after operation (non outstretched arm) which was very very painful. My surgeon told me he didnt think id re-torn anything. This prompted me to do a little research into the sutures and anchors used and i was supprised at how strong they are. Depending on what sutures have been used its very unlikely you've re-torn anything as it would need an external force i.e falling on an outstretched arm. Speak to your surgeon if you need a little re-assurance or try to find out what sutures were used and do a little research for yourself, you'd be supprised how strong they are (circa 50lbs knott strenth for the ones they used in me).

    Thank you. Repped.

Do you think accidentally raising my hand up to about my head halfway in a t shirt and then feeling a pop then another pop, and my arm dropping sounds like a likely torn anchor?

My arm actually feels better today and after last night i feel as if I am given more free range for my shoulder. I just don't know and really would like as much insight as I can get.

Just read through this. Did you end up re-tearing it?

Did I re injure my labrum

I'm currently 4 weeks post surgery for my labrum on the left side of my shoulder. I had an anterior and posterior tear that was repaired. A few days ago I fell at a friends house. I was in the middle of a conversation when I was bumped and accidentally fell forward onto the person i was talking to landing forward with my arm in the sling. Luckily i was wearing my sling as well as the immobilizer. After i fell i felt some pain , but nothing major. It has been three days now since i fell. I'm not in excruciating pain, but my shoulder feels really achy on my trap as well as i have some pressure on my anterior incision sights. my shoulder feels really irritated. What should i do? Dose it sound like i re injured something?

Your Orthopedic Surgeon will have given you post-op instructions and probably a business card for his surgical assistant. Call him.
