Sperrys and Polos Summer 2012: Sky's Out, Thighs Out
With the consent of the original OP, I thought it fitting to aware Tmisc of how young men should dress. The idea of this thread is the same as the misc version: to have a communal discussion between people who live the S & P lifestyle; We should share pictures, sales on clothing, and ask others for advice.
Let's bring some class to Tmisc.
Please note that this is the exact OP of the misc version of this thread with all credit going to the OP captainhorseboy.

Items every S&P'er should own or acquire.
OCBD'S (Oxford Cotton Button Downs):
These shirts are dressy and laid back at the same time. Wear them around the house, running errands, or even to a weekend party and you'll be looking like a BOSS! You want to start out with solid color shirts meaning no stripes or checkers. Many OCBD'S have logos on them and this is fine. You'll want at least one of each in the following colors.
WHITE, BLUE, YELLOW
They make other colors but these are the "starter" colors, as you progress and build your wardrobe you'll add different colors that suit you and your personal taste.
Pro Tip: Don't buy short sleeved oxfords or any dress shirt for that matter, it looks stupid.
Worried about budget? L.L Bean offers oxfords at a decent price. Link to website below this write up.
-----------------------------------
POLO'S (uhh duuh):
Everyone knows what a Polo is so they don't need much of an introduction, you more than likely had to wear them to school to meet dress code at one time. You can buy pretty much any color you want in these as long as it looks good on you and it fits. If you absolutely need advice try the following.
WHITE, RED, BLUE, YELLOW,
There are many other colors but these are the basics that almost everyone starts with.
Pro Tip: Tuck them in.

---------------------------------------
CHINOS (Pants & Shorts):
Chinos are basically khaki pants and shorts. Chinos go with your OCBD'S and your polos as well as your T-Shirts. Your gonna want more than one pair of each pants and shorts. Good colors to start with are as follows.
Light Khaki, Dark Khaki, Red, Blue
Pro Tip: Buy flat/plain front chinos also don't buy critter pants until you have established your S&P wardrobe and are sure you can pull them off!

--------------------------------------
SHOES (boat shoes, desert boots):
Shoes, shoes, shoes. The shoes are as important if not more important than everything else! You don't have to go crazy and buy 10 pairs unless you want to. A good starting point would be as follows.
Sperrys Authentic Originals (AO's) in sahara and/or oatmeal
Sperry Billfish's (my personal favorite)
Clarks desert boots in beeswax.
Now remember to try them on before you buy them and make sure they are comfortable you may have to size up/down in length and or width to get the right fit.
Pro Tip: Don't wear socks with your Sperrys LOL.
------------------------------------
ACCESSORIES (watches, belts):
Accessories can take your outfit to the next level. A nice watch and a well chosen belt can make you stand apart from the crowd in a good way.
Watches: A nice beginners watch would be the Timex weekender. They run about 50 bucks and match very well with the s&p style.
Belts: A dark brown and a light brown leather belt is a good starting place, you may also want to look into D-Ring belts to add to the "frat" feel of the s&p style. D-rings come in many different colors and can be matched with your watch band to give your outfit a nice little touch.
---------------------------------
Well now you're ready with the knowledge you just gained to go out and get your self some new duds! Just remember fit is everything, don't buy it if it does not fit well.

A final note, the S & P style is a classic. Sure there are the current fads (like those colorful tank-tops people are getting from pac sun and zumiez), but classics never go out of style. Anyone at anytime can transition over, and it isn't hard, you just need a bit of guidance and good taste.
And as a final testament to S&P, I give you this:

Although I can't expect the same amount of success as the misc version, I would like to help as best I can.
I am not entirely sure if it is still going on, but just a few weeks ago there was a huge sale at Kohls for all S&P related clothing. I bought around 300 dollars worth of clothes for 120.
A brand not mentioned in the OP is my new favorite for Polos. APT 9 has really comfortable polos which, if bought in the proper color look great and feel great as well. They aren't exactly sport polos as you will see, but I definitely see myself golfing or frolfing in them sometime in the future.
My favorite would be the dark blue: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/mens...Solid+Polo.jsp
Again, based on the website, it looks like everything is still on sale.
EDIT: To give you guys a better idea, here are some pics of notable misc brahs doing it right

You'll get some great ideas on looks and SnP on the cheap to bring back and share. All the best.

I desperately needed a thread like that, consider me subbed. You have no idea, So badly I don't even feel like sharing.
QUICK TIP: When buying sperry's, try them on with your socks off (there is a strong likelihood you have socks on if you don't already own sperry's). For me, having my socks on vs off was the difference of an entire shoe size.

Wonder how many people who wear this stuff have ever been on a yacht in their lives?
I have and I have seen many people as I fish Lake Michigan go out on there yachts. Yachts are nice and all, but being as luxurious as they are, they are over priced to begin with. Not to mention paying to dock them, clean them, etc. Owning a yacht here in Illinois would be pointless. I would rather get a fully loaded new bass boat for 20k which I could take anywhere. Rather than own a yacht and go onto Lake Michigan over and over for trout and salmon.

I am not entirely sure. Check the misc group as they have a few members rocking these. They shouldn't mind a pm.

I am almost done cutting, so I should be making a transformation thread in the future. In which I could post my outfits.
My only flaw, and I am glad the general population doesn't notice is that I have never bought a real watch. All of mine have been gifts,
and they are never true watches. If you don't know what I mean, real watches are watches/chronographs made by companies that ONLY
make watches and chronographs.

That reminds me I need to get my watch fixed there springbar holding the face to the band came out, it probably would only cost a couple of bucks for a new part.

what watches are you looking at brah?
Well if I could finish interning and actually get a job before school starts (classes too hard to have a job)
EDIT: Again, if I had money to burn, it would be pretty unique and cool to have a skeleton watch.
Not this specific brand or watch, pic is just to show the concept. Also, another fun fact, when advertised, watches are almost always pictured at 10:10

haha yeah, I'm on a 14 year old pizza makers wage, so I can relate.
I browse ebay occasionally for watches because sometimes the 20 dollar chinese ones can be pretty cool, I was eyeing off this $20 skeleton watch a month or so ago, but decided not to. kinda similar to the one you posted actually haha
