Arrow Need help adjusting my S-S significantly

So basically my S-S routine is ****ed. 5 Weeks through, I've developed terrible elbow tendonitis (I'm pretty discouraged and upset about it, as this was my first real assault at lifting weights :/).
Because of it I cant do any push exercises (BB presses, Bench presses)... I can do pull exercises without affecting my elbows.

Any supplementary exercises to replace the BB and Bench Presses until my elbows shape up? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks brahs.

I had that sme problem where you elbow would hurt like mad...eventually it just went away. Probaby just the joints and tendons getting used to heavier loads. But if you are worried, see a doc.

What caused it? Was it the pushing exercises or was it supporting the bar on squats (this is a common issue with SS low bar squats)?

Is it golfer's elbow (inside elbow) or tennis elbow (outside elbow)?

I developed a bad case of golfer's elbow from placing the bar too low on my back during squats. I fixed this after watching Rip's bar position video on the SS site. The elbow pain went away after a week of taking it easy on everything that bothered it and adding BB curls (seriously) to my workout.

Do not lift trough triceps/elbow pain. Jason, ffs, don't give people retarded advice.

OP: Take some time off pushing exercises and low bar squats and let your elbows heal. Your problem is likely caused my incorrect bar position during squats (happened to me too). What helped me fix it was this:

.....and doing shoulder dislocated and other shoulder stretches before squatting.

It's probably cause from bad squat form..happens to a lot of people, happen to me as well. You just have to work through it. But if he is worried then a trip to the doc is not a bad idea.

When I was starting low bar I was able to squat but had tremendous pain from the elbow up, couldn't bench or press afterwards, hell I couldn't even pick up a 35lb plate with my right hand. Eventually, from working on my form...that went away.

This is probably what the OP is experiencing.

Do I really need to explain to you why training trought pain is a bad idea?

Elbow 'pain' is very common with low bar squats mainly because the beginners shoulder/elbow is not flexible enough, hell even you experienced it. And you also worked through the pain...

BTW...Op are you sure it's tendonitis? Did a medical doctor tell you this?

What Jason has been saying above.. it is most likely a squat issue. I had the same problem....

I found that taking a week off of squatting and instead of BB bench doing DB bench for a bit helped alot. Light sets of curls will also help get blood flowing through your elbow and may help as well.

Thanks for that video. I started SS may 1st and have experienced great gains on the lower body exercises, but I switched my form on the squat from the high bar squat to the low bar. I continued wrapping my hand around the bar, and I read that the wrist should be straight. I thought my flexibility was off or something. I think this should let me go with a narrower grip than normal too now, so excited to go back tomorrow and test this out.
