Hey,
3 weeks into keto diet and it's going very well. Lost a total of about 8 pounds so far which is great. I'm pretty sure it's all fat as muscle seems bigger rather than smaller so I'm confident a bit of muscle gain is happening. I have a carb up day every two weeks (so only had one so far) which I eat anything high in carbs but low in fat, although a few cakes are consumed, as well as a few cans of Guinness. I never drink alcohol or go above 10g of carbs in between. Just eat meat n salad + nuts, cheese etc. Bacon n eggs in the morning before I workout. First two weeks my workout was tough but it's now fine, with high energy levels and lifting higher weights all the time. But its def the energy which has changed the most. I have to force myself to leave the gym! I use keto sticks which says I'm mostly in trace or moderate, not highly accurate but I am in ketosis so... My abs are still blurry so need to shred another 14+ pounds over the next couple of months.
Be interested to know how others are getting on with this diet?

Hi mate
I've been doing keto for over 2 weeks, today was my first carb up day.
I'm around 200lb and should be at 155lb. I first heard about keto on another forum, and that bought me here and I read as much as I could from the stickies, the rest is history!
I've lost 7lb so far, I'm not getting too excited because I'm pretty sure its water content as I've been going to the loo a lot!! Despite this, I can personally already see some changes in the mirror and it feels fantastic
Here's what I've found so far:
No Carb Cravings
I've tried low carb diets before, only to be left miserable, craving bread etc, low energy. On Keto, if I smell fresh bread, sure I would love to have some, but obviously I don't and I have a spoon of peanut butter, maybe some sugar free jelly etc instead which makes me instantly satisfied. Generally I feel full for much much longer on keto than any high carb meal.
Stable blood sugar levels
I never understood what people meant about blood sugar levels, I thought those 'little' crashes you get in the office during your work days were normal and the only fix was coffee (I dont drink tea/coffee). Since being on Keto I feel my blood sugar levels are just constant, not very high nor very low, its just stable and I feel soo much in the ZONE - wonderful feeling, soo focused.
Easy to plan Meals
Once you've got your macros sorted, you just select the necessary foods that will help you achieve them (quality protein and fat), that's it!
Health Improvement
For the past two years I had a slight red bump on the side of my face, it wasn't noticeable much but I always felt it there. Within the first week of Keto it completely disappeared. I've also notice that my fingernails look even healthier than before. My face looks leaner and healthier too, must be the oils?
Fat is my friend
Probably the most profound thing about Keto is the notion of eating fat to loose fat. Its completely altered my reality on fat - whereas the media and books have made fats in general look soo bad and a absolute no no. I mean look at the stuff we can eat, peanut butter, bacon, whole eggs, whipped cream, sausages, mayo and still lose weight!! which leads me to....
Keto isn't a magical fat loss diet
I realise that it really comes down to calories-in vs calories-out for fat loss. But for me personally, Keto is the fat loss diet to go on for the reasons outlined above.
Thanks to everyone at BB for Keto info!!

For me, several months in, 30lb lighter, MUCH stronger than when I starter (noob gains, nothing magic) and starting to actually like what I see in the mirror.
Keep at it!! Just remember to lose it slow, and carb up to reward your hard work!!!
You will put lbs on during a carb up, but the psychological benefits are priceless, and the pump on your monday workout are freakin' amazing!! =D

Keto is the only thing that really works for me. I used to do low carb but suffered terrible brain fog lol. The high fats make all the difference. I run quite a bit and noticed my energy levels were much more like normal (on maintence) with keto than just plain ole low carbing. I've just done a few weeks on maintence after a bit of an unplanned dirty bulk over the xmas season. Shame on me. Back to that there keto tommorrow. Good Luck all x

Glad you are happy with diet. If you have been doing it for 3 weeks and have lost 8 pounds according to the scale it is definitely not all fat. You very well could look more muscular because of the loss of subcutaneous water retention. Everyone has water weight loss(some more than others). Also muscle gains do not happen overnight. Enjoy the rest of your cut and best of luck.

Xspy,
I know what you mean by having to make yourself eat - during the first few days it was real hard trying to meet my target calories because I felt so full up. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to starve my body. I read some articles on here about how I should just eat when I'm hungry and that in order to be in 'starvation' mode I would 'know' I was in starvation mode by the immense hunger one would have ...if that makes sense.
So now, I eat when I'm hungry and I'm meeting my calorie requirements within +/-100cals.

The trick is to find some really good recipes you enjoy and just spend time in the kitchen. Experiment often, and every once in a while you'll come across something you love. That's how I found out I loved a good keto teriyaki chicken recipe. Over time, you'll develop a huge list of go-to recipes for any occassion.

I've lost 35lbs on a mild form of Keto (Profile by Sanford plan) which involved shakes and such too. I am not 100% strict and I did not exercise during it all. I probably would have lost more if I've exercised. Better late than never right?
I am not craving carbs or sugary treats anymore, especially when there's so many alternatives out there, I feel like I am not missing out anymore. Zucchini spirals instead of pasta works just as well. Lettuce to use as wraps instead of bread for sandwiches. Cauliflower as pizza crust.
if you are on facebook, do a group search for "Keto recipes for beginners". There's TONS of awesome recipes there!
I use my crockpot and freeze meals for the week to save time in the kitchen.
I love muffins and tried so many recipes and finally found one that was delicious. let me know if you want the recipe for that.
