    Recommend me a good self-tanner

    Heyo,

I'm looking for a good (not for competition) self-tanner that would work well with Asian skintones. The ones I've used thus far make me look like an oompa loompa, so I'm looking for something that will give a nice tan and look somewhat natural.

I'm using it to better show off my physique for some after pics I'm taking in January or February.

    Thanks!

I personally recommend Jergens Natural Glow cream. You need to apply it every day and it gradually builds a tan. I used to use it and never got orange skin but I honestly got too lazy to put it on almost every day and waiting for it to dry, so now I look as white as a milk carton but that's alright :P

It gave me a nice little tan, but nothing too dark and it looked natural. It's basically a daily moisturizer with a little bit of self Tanner.

Why not just go do a Mystic or vera spa spray tan?

I've an avid tanner, personally I think all self tanners are garbage and come out horrible. Although, might sound funny but Jersey shore's J WOW's sunless spray is OK. But it might not compliment your skin tone well. I'd recommend going to get a spray tan if anything. Palm Beach Tan has 5 different shades to choose from.

If you are going for natural, the best thing is to go use a tanning bed. By far the most natural tan you can get. (besides the sun obv)

True, most self Tanners will come out orange, sometimes the chemicals just don't mix well with the skin. Same thing goes with Spray Tan, you don't know how it will come out, I have had a pretty bad experience with it and the price was quite high.

As for tanning beds, I don't know about OP but I would personally never step in those things. It's just very bad for the skin (Although I guess it depends on how often you use them)

Annie, if you don't want to risk turning orange or the tanning beds, I just remembered another product I love using. I don't know if you have any Body Shop in your area, but I am pretty sure you can order it online as well :

    http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/makeu...-face-gel.aspx
    http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/makeu...g-dry-oil.aspx

Now, these are not self Tanners, they are just gels that give you a nice glowing ''tan''. They seem expensive but a little bottle goes a long way. The one thing I like about this (and all body shop products) is that if you are not satisfied with the result, just bring it back with the receipt and they will give you your money back, no questions asked, even if the bottle is half empty.

This might be a good alternative to self tanners (I don't like putting so many chemicals on my skin, and risking to turn orange) and no damage to skin from tanning beds.

    Hey... I'm in Mpls too!!

ANYWHO. I can't speak to how it would work with your skin tones, but I have had really good experiences with Sun Laboratories products...

    http://www.sunlabsonline.com/

I've used the "Strictly Faces Medium" for the face and then the "Dark Sunsation" for the body. It really didn't turn out that dark looking at all though... looked like I had come back from vacation, which is just what I wanted. I'd also definitely make sure you're exfoliating before you use any self tanner just to make sure you slough off as much dead skin as possible... helps absorb more evenly. Good luck!

I like St. Tropez self tanning lotion in Medium/Dark. While I am fair skinned, the light formula didn't do much. I have also been known to put on a coat of Jan Tana Competition Tan with a buffing pad if I am going out and want to look a little darker. They have one formula that lasts about 3-4 days.

In my opinion you should try one of the moisturising tanners, so you can see what way it's headed and discontinue use if it looks orange on you! My favourite is currently the Dove Summer Glow!
