Question I had Umbilical Hernia surgery

I had umbilical hernia surgery 3 weeks ago. Has anyone had this before? How long did you have to wait before you could lift again? My surgeon said I can start lifting after 3 weeks, but he said to start with 30 pounds. I'm a powerlifter so I can't do anything worthwhile with 30 pounds.

    Thanks!

Well the last thing you want to do is reinjure yourself, so be very careful in what exercises you do. I know that you are a powerlifter, but take this time as an opportunity to improve other aspects of of your fitness like flexiblity, cardio endurance etc.

Take it easy for a while, Im 5 weeks post surgery myself and im just now getting back to doing any weight at all and its VERY LIGHT weight... I was told it would take around 9 weeks to fully heal enough to get back to moderate to heavy lifting..

Right now I'm doing eliptical training. I'm waiting for a call back from the nurse to see how heavy I can go.

Inlunguial Hernia Surgery.. Right in the lower part of my abdomen.. bascially anything I do that involves the stomach muscles from taking a crap to getting out of bed I feel it pushing on it... its getting alot better though it just takes a few months... Doctor told me he has had guys rush back into the gym and end back on on his operating table and it made it worse then it was before and some never did get back to normal so take it easy man.. Whats worse a few more weeks out of the gym or a lifetime of limited ability? Hope you heal up soon man
