Alan, in your pre, during, & post-workout sticky you talk about how nutrient timing is not nessecary..
Ok sure, nutrient timing may not be necessary but surely its benificial though right?
You then talk about how hitting yout daily macros is FAR more important, but does that mean just because its "more important" one should not worry about nutrient timing at all, as it has no effect? Surely proper nutrient timing will have more benifits opposed to none?
You also talk about that there is a constant overlap of meal digestion and nutrient absorption, wouldent this all depend on if one was in a calorie surplus or a calorie deflect and when there last meal was and how calorie dense it was etc? Surely depending on certian factors nutrient timing is very important.
If one was cutting in a calorie deflect using proper nutrient timing it would be far superior opposed to one with no consern about nutrient timing right?
Wouldent it just be better to be hitting your daily macros PLUS have proper nutrient timing? I just dont understand why you are ruling out the importance of nutrient timing when surely it has its benifits even though it may not be necessary its surely benificial to do so and if one wants to achive the very best they can they should take this into account and be aware about proper nutrient/meal timing. Should they not?
Can you or anyone else for that matter clear me up on this as i still belive nutrient timing is very important.
EDIT: Strong over-use of the word "surely" and lol at my own spelling.

Finishing up some work, plus I must give a strong performance on my Valentine's day date. Then I gotta catch up w/client emails, then I'll hit this. Might be back tomorrow night. This isn't a topic that can be answered in a soundbite. The answer to just how much nutrient timing matters begins with "It depends..."
The best way for you to learn is Socratically, so I'll begin with the first set of questions for you to work on answering:
What specific goal or scenario are you intending to apply nutrient timing to?
What protocol are you proposing for this scenario, and can you justify this protocol scientifically?

No, it's neither necessary nor beneficial as it relates to body composition.
If it's beneficial for you due to your own personal reasons (i.e. satiety, strength/endurance in the gym, etc.) then by all means time your meals to best suit your lifestyle. Just be aware of the difference between biological necessity (which is what Alan is referring to) and personal preference.
