    Excel calculator for lifts vs squats

    I got a rough file from weightlifting exchange, cleaned it up and giving it to you guys. The numbers seem to be pretty close. The equations were from getting a bunch of data from an american national weightlifting competition, supposedly all the data they got almost perfectly fit onto a straight line.

    So far it seems very close, I plugged in Pat Mendes numbers for back squat:
    350kg BS => 197.1kg S , 241.6kg CnJ //// His actual numbers are 195 snatch and 240 Power Jerk.

    For me:
    143kg BS => 87.3kg S , 109.1kg CnJ //// Actual 85 snatch and 105 CnJ (the jerk is my worst lift, technique wise)

    This is really interesting. I'm yet to max out in my olympic lifts so this gives me a great realistic target to aim for.......still reckon I can do more though!

    Lol given my classical lifts it seems to think I should be back squatting 360-385lbs. I can only do probably a bit more than 315.

    Given my snatch result of 230lbs it thinks I should FRONT squat more than I currently can BACK squat.

    All that being said obviously my leg strength is poor and I get pinned in the clean like ALL the time.

    This calculator basically is saying work on your squat! YES I CAN HEAR YOU!

    Yeah, the info was gathered from men only so who knows what the women's numbers are like.

    Interesting, according to this I should have no problem qualifying for Pan-Am Masters. I know I have the strength I just need to focus on the lifts, this kind of confirms that. Thanks for linking to that.

    Ooops, didn't see the post right above. Hopefully it's close. My back squat (no wraps) is in the 140 to 150 range, and the last time I did FS I was doing 105 easily. Hopefully the Masters #'s would be similar.

    It said I should have a 133kg c&j and 107kg snatch at 180kg bs. I can not really snatch and c&j that much. Well I've been doing the olympic lifts for about 3 months now...I'll guess I'll catch up.
    And the 180kg bs was a No No No. Just with shorts and t-shirt.

    Yeah, you guys gotta realize these numbers are based off of people that competed in a national weightlifting championship so they are very efficient in their lifts.

    I think it did a purpose for me which was to confirm that I need to work more on the lifts than the strength to get where I want to be in these lifts. Except that I have a bunch of Highland Games and strongman stuff coming up, and that is a lot of fun.

    From one of the authors: "Cool. I did notice after someone sent me a link that you stated on another forum that this research was collected at a national weightlifting meet. This isn't the case. The data was collected via interviews, at various locations and through email and phone as I recall. All the subjects were national level qualifiers, however. Also, not everyone fit a "perfectly straight line." The relationships are all above .9 but they are not perfect. If they were, the formula would presumably predict your exact numbers based on other numbers. But, they are within a narrow range, since efficiency of technique affects the relationship a little (or a lot in elites depending on how you look at it.)

    Actually our back squat/CJ ratios must be similar then. I have usually been back squatting only about 118-120% of my clean and jerk. 125% is a normally quoted number and this calculator predicts more like 134%!

    That's because your back squat technique sucks and your core is weak. I have the first problem and my max front squat is 96% of what I usually max back squat.
