you Don't need to bulk to gain muscle

ok so I figured out that you don't need to "bulk up" to gain muscle. This is becuase calories don't cause muscle growth they are only stored as fat if you eat to much of them. protein aids in muscle growth but also doesn't "cause it". why would you want to put on fat in order to gain muscle? I just eat at my maintenance sometimes a bit lower and I have no problem putting on JUST muscle

btw I know im probably going to get flamed for this and negged to sh!t but I really don't give a fck this is just my opinion

no it's true. Im not saying you don't need protein im saying that protein in and within itself doesn't cause muscle growth your WORKOUT does. Protein will help REPAIR the damaged muscle tissue

Working out causes the adaptation, protein helps to repair and build the muscle, calories are the energy to help fuel this entire process.

Yeah, as a new trainee you can get away with eating at maintenance and making size gains. I've been doing that for 7 months.
But you will reach a point in which you must eat at a surplus to continue making progress, sorry to say

gaining weight isn't possible without excess calories. period. you can gain a bit of muscle, but if you want to put on significant weight (20+ pounds), you best be bulking son

i feel the same way. 9/10 people i converse with in real life. do not cut or bulk, or attempt to modify food volume....

yet they look amazing and are clearly alot larger than they would be if they were sedentary.

    blows my mind

yea, it is true, you don't need to bulk up, my proffesor in Uni did his PhD on protein synthesis
if you eat your mainenence, or even less, your body will use carbs and stored fats for energy and protein for repair
your body NEEDS to adapt, it is a body's survival mechanism; damaged muscle MUST recover and adapt
however, there is a limit to how big u can get with caloric deficit, u will need to start surplus after making significant gains

yet they look amazing and are clearly alot larger than they would be if they were sedentary.

    blows my mind
genetics + unknowingly eating enough food + working out = jacked

your body NEEDS to adapt, it is a body's survival mechanism; damaged muscle MUST recover and adapt
however, there is a limit to how big u can get with caloric deficit, u will need to start surplus after making significant gains
    strong 2nd post. Agreed.

Anyone saying you can eat exactly at maintenance or below and gain muscle is an idiot.

The only time gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time *may* be possible is for a very fat, untrained individual, or just a severely untrained individual.

From what I see, a lot of people in this thread are claiming to defy the simple rule of calories in vs. calories out.

Calories in > calories out = Gain weight
Calories in < Calories out = Lose weight

    Those are fact.

Saying you can build muscle while in a caloric deficit is ****ing retarded. To build muscle, you need a caloric surplus. You will put on fat while maintaining a caloric surplus. This is unavoidable. Your body is not 100% efficient at using calories.

    Strong idiocy in this thread.

So you agree with what I said earlier?
