i know that i have read that somewhere but it did not give an explanation as to why he would do that I have never heard of any other bb do this. I was just curious if anybody knows logic behind that method

Yeh this is a funny issue, ive heard he did that as well.
Ive heard a lot of guys complaining how they look a lot better a few day after the comp because there muscles fill out after being depleted from food and energy for so long (8-15 weeks). Some or alot of bb mistake with there carb up b4 the day of comp because they are scared of putting on fat.
I guess arnold thought he look a lot better when he looked fuller.

Lee priest did a little experiment last year where he dieted for 8 weeks b4 a show then the night b4 he sat there and ate burgers all night and said the next day he was in the best condition of his life ! theres somthing to think about.

Just out of curiousity what do you guys eat the morning of the show ?

I would like to hear more about this diet strategy as well. I have my first show coming up in two weeks. My diet has been great, and I'm wondering if I should carb deplete next week or not. It seems like I keep hearing stories of guys peaking a day or two AFTER their show. I'm used to dieting from years of wrestling, and I know what a low calorie diet makes you feel like. It seems like if you have everything under control going into the week before a show, why not stick with what got you there???

I know a guy that won the Illinois overall State Championship in the mid 90's and know he ate greasy cheeseburgers the Friday before the show. He looked great! Wonder what he would have looked like if he would have ate clean and sodium depleted?

If you think about it, it makes sense. Your body is a machine. It does what it is used to. If you have been dieting for 8-15 weeks your body is pretty much used to processing the food like that. Putting real food in your body would cause you to absorb it and make you look more full. I would be careful not to overdo it though. You still want to keep your meals small so that your belly won't be bloated.

I think a lot of people consider doing this because they find that right after a show when they pig out they can look soooooo huge and freaky the next day.... unfortunately after dieting, training, and doing cardio for sooooo long they don't have the balls to put it all on the line and try it.

I'd be interested to hear some first hand (instead of hearsay) accounts to see if it worked or not.

Surely your body would be holding water after a week or night stuffing your face, sure you prol look massive and riped but would'nt the abs/obliques and quads be suffering.

It's in Arnold's Encyclopedia, it's used so you don't look flat. Carbing up the day before a competition is bad because your body can't absorb that many carbs at once. Say if there is a competition on Saturday then you should start eating normally on monday/tuesday and wednesday at the latest.
