Something "popped" when doing leg press

I was doing leg presses today, and when I brought the weight down, I accidentally let it down too fast, and my thighs pushed in to the bottom of my rib cage rather hard. Something made a popping sound on my right side, and it caused a good deal of pain. It now hurts when I inhale deeply, or if I apply pressure to the spot. Is this just a pulled muscle or something??? Also, even with light weight, if I try to squat or leg press, it causes a lot of pain

The same thing happened to me like 4 days ago when doing a seated machine leg press with heavy weight...I was on my last rep, and went down too fast, and I felt like something had slipped up under my ribcage or right below it. I was able to push the weight back up, but ever since it has hurt when I breathe in, or apply pressure like right under my left rib cage...I got it checked out, and I was told that it was most likely not a hernia, but rather an abdominal sprain...but it's been 4 days and the pain hasn't gone away...did you find out what you have is?

I never did find out exactly what it was. Some guys I talked to said they've had similar things happen and i was most likely pulled one of the muscles around my rib cage. Anyway, it took a good week or two before it finally went away. Now I'm just really cautious when doing leg to not let the weight down too quickly at the bottom. I stayed away from leg press during those two weeks as well obviously. Hopefully yours will go away as easily. Good luck man

when things like that happens all you have to do is to take a rest for a week or more...
or the condition will become worst!

thanks for the input bro...quick question, did you do any exercise during those 2 weeks that you specified, or did you just take 2 weeks off? I've taken the past like 3 days off and I'm really itchin 2 get back into the gym...I also feel like, even though the pain resides under my rib cage, that I could still workout, at least arms, shoulders and chest

    Angry Pain under right rib

Hi Guys, Did the self same thing two weeks ago on the leg press at our gym. Only pressing. 40kg but came down too far, the result being sudden pain under the right rib which has been painful to touch the whole time. It seems to be moving round to the side now and is gradually lessening. However still painful to turn on my right side at night. Not bothered with the docs as yet. Being a 68 Year old he'd probably ask what the hell I was doing anyways! Lol

I have done that before on leg press as well. Can only assume some kind of movement of floating ribs. Went away in a few weeks but I def couldn’t tolerate leg press during that time.
