IF YOU HAVE POWERLIFTING SHOES GTFIH!!!(reps)

i finally got my tax return(dont ask)

    and it was 500 dollars.

instead of buying supplements i would rather buy equipment.

    i already have chucks btw.

now i want to see what everyone has.

My stances are conventional squat and sumo DL. Now i was searching and I saw that isaku said that they dont make too big of a difference on sumo style. but i may switch to conventional and see if it will make it higher with these shoes.
I have so much problem with floor grip with my chucks and I wanted better shoes.
So if you do have weightlifting shoes post what you have and write a mini-review

    Thanks

each review or statement you say that helps me toward my overall goal i will rep you

    they're called weighlifting shoes.

the only thing you'll want to use them for is the squat if you squat narrow.

they will make your deadlift worse.

    i have a pair of Rogues http://store.wfwclub.com/rowesh.html

they're reasonably priced, fit well, and I broke a PR by 5kg on my Clean and Jerk the first time I wore them.

but there's the rub, I only wear them for weightlifting and when i occasionally do 20-rep sets olympic style.

Unless you like to squat narrow Olympic style, or would like to try it, there's little need (with what you've written about yourself) for you to have Olympic shoes. If you did decide to try Olympic shoes, I would suggest shoes by VS Athletics or Do-Win.

I pull conventional and use wrestling shoes. They could also be used for sumo pulling, I suppose, and wide squatting. You can find a decent pair of wrestling shoes for under $50. I wear Adidas, but Asics and Nike make some good ones as well.

You don't want to deadlift in Olympic shoes, no matter what your style, unless you're practicing an accessory for an Olympic lift.

    everyone's deadlift.

weighlifting shoes have a raised heel, making it harder to push through the heels and increase range of motion.

the reason weightlifters wear them is that they are beneficial to the rest of the lift, and that offsets the disadvantage they provide in the first pull.

In any sort of narrow/conventional squat weightlifting shoes will help stability and ability to hit depth comfortably.

If you bench flat footed I also like the raised heel of weightlifting shoes.

If you bench on your toes I like wrestling shoes.

Deadlift = wrestling shoes all the way no matter what. Closer to the floor = better.

You can check out the soles of the shoes you're looking at, to see if the grip suits you.

If your feet are through growing, as I imagine they are, you can keep the Olympic shoes basically forever, or until you wear them out. I say go for it. Although, the Rogues are not the most affordable option. I love my VS models.

Mine actually help when I pull conventional because it helps me get lower which allows me to use more leg, since my back is kind of weak.

The titan squat shoes are supposed to be the best for IPF squatting, they are used by many of the best powerlifters in the world http://www.titansupport.com/products/shoes/shoes.htm. If you want a fancy flat shoe, metal makes the best one it is used by some of the best also -donnie tompson, Konstantinovs ext- http://www.gometal.com/pages.php?gb=5&wsa=shc&wsc=33

Oly shoes are meant for oly lifting more, those other two are powerlifting companies making shoes for powerlifters just saying...

As someone above me has already stated, oly shoes are really only beneficial for closer stance squatting. They help you hit depth much easier and will last you forever.

If you see yourself lifting (even recreationally) for the next 10 years, and keeping a narrow squat stance or are thinking about weightlifting, then I would highly recommend a pair. I have a pair of the Rogue Dowins and they are very nice, but any of the shoes mentioned above are quite serviceable.

And again, Oly shoes for squatting, wrestling or flat soled shoes for deadlifting.

everyone here says weightlifting shoes should be worn for narrow-stance squatters, but i've seen pics of powerlifters in competition wearing WLing shoes squatting wide-stance.

why don't they just wear chucks?

I lift in the "SAFE" shoes, just outside shoulder width, IPF depth.

Used to wear olympic shoes...but I find these I can sit back better

some people say they can do hip back squats better in the OL shoes, gives them a more stable base, plus chucks are gay (jk )

I have some vs athletics and I like them.

I do seem to squat better in chucks and deadlift better in the weightlifting shoes.

They work great for front squats and really work good for snatches.

I recently got the Botev Oly shoes, and since I squat relatively close stance, I feel they helped me a lot. I guess it differs from personal squat to squat.
