Sticky Thread Sticky: Official PR Thread

I have decided to start a PR thread where everybody can simply post their PR's for any given exercise including things like strongman events and oly lifts of course. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Your first meet.

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Number one: YES YOUR LIFTS ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO COMPETE. IF YOU CAN LIFT THE BAR AND COLLARS (25KG/55LBS), WRITE YOUR NAME ON AN ENTRY FORM, AND PAY THE ENTRY FEE YOU CAN COMPETE. NO ONE IS GOING TO LAUGH AT YOU, YOU WON'T BE EMBARASSED, YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE "COMPETITIVE" DEPENDING ON WHO SHOWS UP....

Front-Squat Vs. High-Bar for biggest deadlift

If your number one goal is building as big a deadlift as possible then would it be a mistake to replace high-bar squats with front-squats as your other main-lift? In other words, I use high bar and deadlift as my main lower-body lifts. I'm wondering if Front-Squat would be a better main lift in...

Smile Trying Powerlifting/Strongman

Hello, my name is Artur and I'm now 16 y/o. I'm about 1.90 m and 93-94 kg. I've been going to the gym for 6 months and I've found lifting weight with the goal of lifting more weight very captivating. But I have my fears, since I have no idea of the risks and the other things. I'm mostly working...

Regular Sit Ups vs Weighted Sit Ups

Hi, I'm a bit new to weight lifting. I'm seeing a lot of people doing sit ups, but I thought to myself, isn't using the abdominal crunch machine better than regular crunches because you're actually using weights? When should someone use a abdominal crunch machine and why would it be better...

How can I deadlift heavier?

I am a very strong person, I squat 750, log press 385, bench 340, but only deadlift 550 because I am short and have stubby arms. How can I overcome this problem that has been plaguing me as a short heavyweight strongman? Thank you.

Joe Ladnier is a complete ***hole!

I email him from time to time asking opinions or advice and today he totally blew me off by saying something like, "Do you ever pay for information or you just pick people's brains for information for free". What a complete ***hole. If he is gonna act like this, he needs to take his email address...

What Diameter Log is Used in Competitions?

I assumed 12" for the longest time, but now I'm noticing that Slater Logs doesn't even have a 12" available for purchase, and a lot of other sites seem to push 10" logs quite a bit as well. I want to get whatever size is most often used in pro or legitimate amateur competitions, just for the...
