Sticky Thread Sticky: Attention: Under 18s

The moderators here have a policy that we do not advise anyone under the age of 18 to restrict their calorie intake. So please do not ask for such advice here. This is because there is the possibility that you could stunt your growth or develop an unhealthy relationship with food. If you have...

Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

Having difficulty reaching my bf% goals w/ pics

I'm M, 25, 6'0, 160 lbs and I've spent most of the last year trying to get into shape and look good, but I've been increasingly frustrated because I'm spending so much time not knowing if what I'm doing is right. I'm not trying to be a bodybuilder or anything, I'm just trying to put on some muscle...

Losing last bit of fat before a competition

Im sitting around 7% bodyfat @ 5'8 161-163lbs. The competition is in 3.5 weeks, I planned on starting carb cycling this saturday (3 weeks out) I was wondering if I could get your opinions on my macros and if they are okay or if I should change? I planned on doing 3 low days and 1 high day and...

How much can BMR/TDEE vary between similar people?

Given people of the same height and weight and similar lifestyle. Can one person have 1000 calories more in BMR/TDEE than another for example? Or do they only vary by few hundreds or so?

Best way to track weight loss?

How do you guys track weight loss? Right now im weighting myself 4 times a week in the morning, then takes the average of those days, would this be an okey way to get an estimate at where im going? Also is there any need to care about day to day loses as long average weight is dropping?

2 month cut starting to stall out

Started at 189lb, cut with a lot of running and just maintaining my strength not trying to build too much more muscle. Current weight 168, and dropped atleast 1” off waist line. First 2 pics are current, last 2 are 2 months ago. Feels good to be the lightest I’ve weighted in 10 years but it...

Lost a bunch of weight but still have lovehandles..

At the beginning of 2020, shortly after my 40th birthday I realized I had to change my body. Up until a few years earlier I'd kept fit by running long distance, I had ran a couple of marathons as well. However, I developed quite a severe ankle injury, which I still have problems with to this...

How many calories?

So I started lifting in February 2020. Just started because someone asked me how much I could bench and I had no idea. I had been working out with dumbells for about 2 years off and on before that. So bought a barbell and some weights. Last year I focused on gaining strength. This year I want to...

Why healthy eating is not recommended?

The advice I see here seems to strongly sway towards eating a caloric deficit but not so much for eating healthier. For me eating healthier makes me eat less and keeps me fuller for longer plus its good for your since it has all those nutrients your body needs. So why isn't health eating...

Increased anxiety during cuts/deficits

Good afternoon forums. I've been bodybuilding for over a decade now but I still seem to struggle to get down into the single digits, in fact I've probably only been that low once in my early twenties. The main problem I seem to face is increased anxiety and panic attacks when I'm deep into my...

Losing weight/fat with oats and quark

First off: I am not a bodybuilder nor do I actively work out. I do some cardio every day because I drive about 15km on my bicycle every day but yea, not working out as in lifting. What I am here for is to ask whether what I plan to do is good for losing some weight. I figured that this would...

High calorie deficit but high protein intake

Hey guys, Ive been trying to lose 30 pounds. I started fasting 2 months ago and went from 230lbs to 214lbs with no exercising. A month ago from now, I’ve been strength training. Pretty much to make sure I maintain some muscle. The only fat I have to lose now is my gut. I know it’s the last thing to...

How much happier has weight loss made you?

I know this may sound dumb, but I always feel like when I lose all the weight and I am healthy, that I'll just be happier. I'm not sure how exactly but I just won't feel as bad. Like somehow the chemicals in my body will balance out so that I won't be as depressed, or things won't affect me as...

Got my DEXA scan, need a sane approach to weight loss.

Got my DEXA scan and it is not pretty I am 5'7" and 290 lbs and my lean mass is only 139 pounds. DEXA scan says my RMR is 1701 calories a day. Would lifting heavy 4 days a week and eating roughly 1600 calories a day be reasonable for good weight loss ?

First post

Wanted to post and see what everyone thought, I’m totally new to everything so don’t be too harsh. 46 years old, 6’3” started out 279 and done 5 lbs the first month. Lift 2 days a week and cardio 3 days. Try to count macros on the Macros app (2400 calories). First month seems like a good change in...

is it typical to be so hungry when cutting

I find when in a calorie deficit my hunger is so extreme that i cant sleep through the last 2 hours of a 24 hour cycle and am hungry 24/7 and am only at a 250 calorie deficit and have a Matinaince calorie intake of 3300. this is even true when i am as fat as a dexascan 15%.

Localized fat loss - true or false?

Say a guy who already works out has excess belly weight but then he starts training abs for the first time, will that speed up fat loss in the abdominal region?

Time for a change.

Hey guys. I’m a 19 year old college student looking to make a lifestyle change this summer. I live a very sedentary lifestyle and don’t eat the greatest. I’m currently 5’10 and 265lbs. Looking for some advice as to what macronutrients I should focus on when eating as well as maybe what I should...

I have a serious question about changing my physique

I haven't worked out in over 8 years. Due to going back to school and changing careers I had no time to lift and I started eating bad foods. Well anyways I'm 5'11 and I'am 260 pounds. I was 267 three weeks ago. I have a natural stocky build so I would like to finish off 12-14 months from now at...

How many times a week sprinting to lower body fat percentage?

I’m somewhere around 15% body fat and am looking to get down to 10% to hopefully reveal a six pack. The top two abs show pretty clearly, but there’s nothing for the last four. I’m pretty sure I’ve done enough to at least have a four pack, but it might just be genetics. If it’s not genetics, how...
