Sticky Thread Sticky: What is My Body Fat Percentage? - Post Your Estimate Request Pictures Here - Vol III

This is the one and only place in this forum to post body fat estimate requests. Previous threads:Vol I,Vol II Calipers, Dexa, hydro-static weighting, all have error rates, and this thread is no different. If you think you are 13% BF and others think you are 15%, consider thanking them...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Attention: Under 18s

The moderators here have a policy that we do not advise anyone under the age of 18 to restrict their calorie intake. So please do not ask for such advice here. This is because there is the possibility that you could stunt your growth or develop an unhealthy relationship with food. If you have...

Sticky Thread Sticky: DON'T LOOK PAST the BASICS

From what I've been reading in this forum for the past several years---and it's getting worse, not better---most posters here are, for some reason, missing the basics of fat loss, and instead, are looking for some magic bullet, or worse, putting their faith in some TV or youtube guru, or some...

My copy/paste on everything you need to know to get started (short ver.)

So I use this copy/paste a lot, primarily on the Nutrition section since that is where I spend most of my time; but on the few occasions I have ventured here and posted this I received a lot of messages thanking me or asking for further advice. I thought that with the influx of new people it...

micro bulking (day at a time)

During my cut, if I get overcome by the urge to do extra volume at the gym and end up sore the next day, then that day becomes a bulk day. Soreness goes away faster when I eat more food. I read from clean/lean bulking articles that bulking only needs to be 200-400 calories above maintenance....

My first cut

Hello guys. I come here seeking opinions/advice. I have currently been cutting for around 3.5 weeks and don’t see much difference. I am in a 500-800 caloric deficit daily and have dropped 8 lbs on the scale (211 to 203). I have been consistently doing a PPL program the whole time. I have been...

Is it really bad to continue cutting after a 12 week deficit?

Mike Israetel states that continuing a cut for longer than that starts to hurt muscle retention. I was severely overweight and am cutting at around 2100 calories and have not noticed much if any muscle loss, I am still dropping fat and have not plateued yet at this amount of calories, but...

Losing 2-5 lbs of body fat?

Hi everyone, So I recently got a body fat analysis done at my gym. Now I'm fairly small. My results came back as: 150.9 lbs, 29.9 lbs of fat, 19.7% bodyfat. Now here is the thing, I ate a lb of high fat ground beef 80/20 and 6 eggs right before getting tested. I later learned that that can...

How much caloric deficit is too much?

Hello. Just need a quick opinion or two, as I am very new to dieting/cutting. I calculated my maintenance calories to be around 3100 or so. I am currently eating around 2400 calories a day. Is this too much of a deficit? I feel like I have lost a lot of weight for just 3.5 weeks of dieting (11 lbs,...

Probably the only guy in the world who's physique has gotten worse from losing fat

A while ago I decided to finally cut for the first time since I started lifting. My body fat was uncomfortably high -- my butt was getting really large, in particular -- so I figured it was time. I was NOT expecting how little fat had been stored in my glutes relative to the rest of my body. I...

Increased anxiety during cuts/deficits

Good afternoon forums. I've been bodybuilding for over a decade now but I still seem to struggle to get down into the single digits, in fact I've probably only been that low once in my early twenties. The main problem I seem to face is increased anxiety and panic attacks when I'm deep into my...

Completely fasted training vs Carbs only

Will training with only carbs only in the morning have a systematic effect on your apparent fat loss levels, or even theoretical muscle tissue levels? No protein, no fat. Interest is for fasted training or stronger training and with only slight appetite for carbs, but fat loss is not an issue...

consistent progress at 170 with a belly

I'm 5'11 170 lbs 20 yrs. New to bodybuilding, not new to working out. I've dieted before, did high school sports, and weightlifting. I'm lifting on a 5 day split for a little over a month now. I've got a belly but not sure how to get rid of it without killing my gains and losing weight.

That much fat?

For the last 3 months I've been using myfitnesspal to track my calories and having only read that sticky post earlier, it didn't occur to me that the body does indeed need a minimum intake of x, y, z, and that a ratio means nothing. So I've been 40/40/20 for this period of time. A typical day...

Hey everyone, Just wanted to get everyone’s thoughts on the age old “you don’t weight enough and need to bulk before cutting”... I’m 5’7 guy having just cut from 140 to 130, down at 12% bf. I’ve not lost any strength in my lifts so that got me thinking- at what point can/do you excuse...

FitBit Inaccuracy? Calorie deficit seems really high in order to lose weight

Hello, I've been seriously tracking my weight for 3+ years now with a Fitbit, MyFitnessPal and a food scale. I feel that I'm counting my calorie intake pretty well. I try to log everything as accurately as possible but I found that I need pretty high calorie deficits to lose weight. ...

HMB as substitute for extra protein?

There is data showing that HMB is good for cutting, mostly in beginners. 3 grams is optimal for someone who is 200 pounds. Studies without HMB say that to lose 1% of your body weight as fat each week, you need at least 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, or something high like that....

What would be your course of action to troubleshoot and fix a chronic distended stomach? I have very defined abs but unless I'm flexing, most of the time but not always my stomach is not flat.
