On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Rehabbing after hip surgery #3, the hardest set I've ever done with 225

7mVTN2PuzlQ 5 weeks post hip repair - bursa removal, labrum removal (there wasnt much labrum left after years of FAI grinding it to shreds), capsule cleanup and FAI bone removal. This wasnt pain free by any means, but my joint feels fine - it's the bursa area that is painful due to scar...

Best exercises to increase quad endurance?

Hey everyone - I'm 37. Just exercise to stay in shape. I enjoy running 5ks and playing basketball. My problem has always been the endurance of my quads. They seem to tire fast. I'm not looking to set world records. But it's always fun to improve and get better. What're the most effective...

Training back and chest together.

So I finally did it, trained chest and back together, it's great! I always heard that it would be to much, especially for us older folks, but not the case at all. I stuck to 3 exercises per body part. I changed my PPL now to: Day 1 Chest and back Day 2 Legs Day 3 Shoulders and arms. I...

Question about lifting on a crappy diet and hitting goals

So I'll try to keep this brief. I'm 40 y/o, 5'10" 185 lbs and roughly 20.5 percent bf. I started boxing about ten years ago and fought competitively for five years. Once I hit 35 y/o and stopped competing I still did some boxing training and started training others for a couple years after...

Poll Poll: Calisthenics squats poll2

Ok a rework of the pistol squat poll, since pistols didn't seem popular. The question is -- you got any better ideas? So, bodyweight only and simple/common household objects only. No dumbbells/kettlebells/barbells even home made concrete weights not permissible here What is the best way to...

6th month of “minimum”...I dunno guys

So, I’m into my 6th month of doing a “minimum“ workout that takes me 30 minutes, 3 days a week...so 1 1/2 hours a week total. I’ve totally stopped monitoring diet. I generally eat healthier than most, but there’s been plenty of junk too. I just eat whatever when I’m hungry until I’m satisfied. ...

Barbell Workout

I have borrowed a barbell and about 375lbs in weights so I can at least do some things in my garage. The problem is I do not have a rack and the bench I borrowed does not have a rack either. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggesting for some leg workouts that use a barbell with out a rack. ...

Do I sink $700 on home gym equipment, or wait?

As you probably know all gyms in the UK have been forced to close. I'm sure it's the same everywhere else too. I've been looking at gym equipment online. For a barbell, 90kg weights, bench and rack I'm looking at around £600 (approx $700). That's not "commercial grade" equipment but I'm guessing...

All this recent talk about Maintaining - Physique Update

Several of us have recently talked about being in maintenance mode and even more so now with the COVID-19 shutting gym's down. I started lifting seriously at 49 years-old to get in shape and the first year was mostly about weight loss. The 2nd and 3rd year I was focused on building muscle and...

Drinking Corona and Heavy Deads.......

I went to my gym today and the owner/operator had Coronas stocked in the fridge to parody this silly hysteria. This is why I love my gym! So, I dead lifted 200kg x 1 (nice hard pull) and drank a Corona.

Mini cut, or bulk for another year?

I started my journey just over 18 months ago. I spent 9 months cutting from 210 pounds to 160 pounds. I've then spent the last 9 months bulking and have reached 180 pounds today. My aim was to gain 1 pound per month, but in reality I either gained nothing each month, or just over 2 pounds. As...

I try to keep it short, I have been living in Beijing since 2014 and lifting since December 2016. Now, because of the corona virus, all gyms are closed as of 1/25/20. They can not reopen until the govt says its safe. Working from home now too. Could be another month till the gyms reopen. ...

how bad does my injury sound?
