What is your one tip to staying fit above 40

I'm 39 and have gotten back to decent shape since a slipped disc and nerve damage 5 years ago. I lift weights and do cardio, but I don't lift really heavy anymore. I do use excellent form, which I didn't in my 20s. What I find the most challenging is losing weight. It's so slow and its...

Strength Loss

I have trained for years doing BB Bench at low reps (5/4/3/2) and then Inc DB Bench higher reps (8/7/6/5). I recently decided to go higher reps for BB Bench (8-10 reps). I have done this for a couple of months and have now gone back to the way I trained before. Is it natural to have lost strength?...

BMI nonsense?

I remembered the first tool I used to asses my fitness level (or lack of) when I was really fat, was something called a BMI calculator (Body Mass Index). Smith Machine/Free Weights?

This may sound odd but today I was able to bench 205 for 2 sets of 5 each, no real struggle, but then went to a smith machine bench and struggled to get 195 for 4 reps...shouldn't free weights be more difficult than a smith machine?
